Bailee Dierks advanced to the finals in the 100 and 300 hurdle races and anchored Hudson’s girls’ 4x200 meter relay team to the sixth fastest time in the field on the first day of the WIAA State Track and Field Championships Friday, May 31, in La Crosse.

Dierks will take the second fastest time in the 300 hurdles into Saturday’s finals after winning her preliminary heat in 44.38 seconds. She also won her heat in the 100 hurdles in 14.81 seconds, the third fastest time entering Saturday’s 10-competitor finals.

Ava Wilber, Molly Kallenbach, Emma Olson and Dierks also advanced in the 4x200 relay with a sixth place time of 1 minute, 43.68 seconds.

Carter Maack just missed making the finals in the boys’ hurdles, posting 11th place times of 15.08 seconds in the 100 and 40.2 seconds in the 300. The top ten times advanced.

There were plenty of other Raiders in action Friday. Rachel Ball and Alicia Belany finished 16th and 20th in the girls’ 1600 meter run while Wilber, Kallenbach, Amber Robey and Olson placed 20th in the girls’ 4x100 in 50.35 seconds.

In the boys’ competition, Torin Phillips took 18th in the 200 meter dash in 22.51 seconds and Tony Weeks was 19th in the 3200 while Landen Bilse, Jacob Daulton, Jakes Assembo and Charles Pierce placed 21st in the 4x100 in 43.33 seconds.

In addition to Dierks and the girls’ 4x200 relay team advancing to Championship Saturday, Emma Filipiak, Ball, Belany and Anna Czupryna will run the 4x800 relay and Noah Lundeen will compete in the boys’ 1600.
