The Ellsworth Panthers left the New Richmond quad on Tuesday, Sept. 10, with a clean sweep of all three of their opponents.

Minder and fellow senior Clarity Kummer held down the front row with two blocks apiece. Senior setter led Kaitlyn Nugent led the way with 12 assists and five digs while Emily Mallon recorded seven aces against Durand’s serve receive.

The Panthers went on to face a Middle Border Conference opponent — the Prescott Cardinals. The Panthers won both sets by at least 10 points and were led by Kaitlyn Peterson, Autumn Radkey-Earney and Nugent who led all major categories for Ellsworth. Peterson finished as the game’s top server with three aces against Prescott’s serve receive. Radkey-Earney added seven kills and four blocks to lead the front row, and Nugent continued her superior back row play with 13 assists and 12 digs.

The Panthers concluded their night with their most challenging game of the quad, which came against the hosting New Richmond Tigers. The Tigers were able to score 20-plus points against the Panthers in both sets, but Ellsworth completed the night’s sweep with set wins of 26-24 and 25-21. Nugent was once again a main contributor for the Panthers. The senior led the team with 19 assists, seven digs and recorded one block along with Kummer and senior Avery O’Neil. Minder finished as the team’s top offensive threat with eight kills, and Radkey-Earney worked her magic behind the service line where she recorded five aces.
