The visiting Chinese students are taking 16 credits of classes per semester at UW-River Falls. A dairy barn on a farm in the town of Clifton caught fire on Wednesday, Sept. 11. The fire was called in at about 2:10 p.m. Neighbors and farm workers cooperated to get the animals out of the barn. Fire fighters on scene said they did not know if the group was able to remove all of the animals. No people were reported injured.

A group between 20-30 participated in a protest Tuesday morning to save the two oak trees that have stood on the Pierce County Courthouse front lawn for generations. Among the speakers were Eleanor Oltman, Jack Hines and David Culver. Culver has been one of the most passionate speakers among those in saving the trees. The Pierce County Building Committee voted last week to remove the trees as soon as possible.
