I am the sports writer for the Woodbury Bulletin and South Washington County Bulletin. I'm a graduate from the Greenlee School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Iowa State University and have always had a passion for sports since a young age. Whether it was watching or playing sports, I always knew sports would be in my career. After three or four hours of gymnastics each day, Raina Albores goes back home to Hudson. It's a short drive from her second home, which is Perpetual Motion Gymnastics across the river in Woodbury. When the River Falls High School senior gets home, Albores will have something to eat and start working on her homework. She understands that each day during the week is going to be busy with school, a few hours of gymnastics practice and finishing up homework at the end of the day.
It's 11:45 a.m. Tuesday, April 16, at the University of Nebraska-Omaha. Max Gamm sits in his economics class, but also thinks about the rest of his day. Being a college baseball player, it's a strict schedule each day. For Gamm, that schedule is even more strict after facing a possible career-ending chronic illness in high school that led to stomach cramps and extensive weight loss. Once the professor excuses the class, the sophomore baseball player takes off in hopes of not being late.
First, congratulations on being less than a month away from the end of the Slim Down with RiverTown. I'm sure there have been highs and lows throughout this process, but the ability to continue focusing on your goals is an incredible victory. Once May is over, then the real part kicks in. You won't have an event or contest pushing you to continue these practices. Instead, you have to rely on yourself and maybe friends or family to continue these healthy practices.
The snow has finally started to melt, which means winter is coming to an end. The spring season is right around the corner and that means warmer temperatures and more activities to be done outdoors. In my opinion, winter can be hard to workout consistently with the cold temperatures and the inches of snow that come almost every other day. There were plenty of days that I didn't want to workout because of the weather outside, but now that spring is here I'm so excited.

After a snowy February and the frigid temperatures from this winter, I'm sure it's hard to find workouts to do besides going to the gym. I'm here to tell you that there are plenty of fun activities that also are workouts. Since I've been living in Minnesota all of my life, I thought it would be good to try some outdoor, snow activities.
